What to Expect for SSFM as of June 2

News Update: The South Shore Farmers Market is scheduled to open our 22nd season on Saturday, June 20th at 8am. This simple statement, however, belies the many changes that visitors to the Market will experience this year.

The first priority will be the safety and health of our customers, vendors and staff. To achieve this, the Market experience will necessarily be more about shopping than socializing. With the proper precautions we believe our farmers’ market can be safer than shopping in a conventional grocery store while providing the freshest most nutrient- rich foods available.

An overview of the changes:

Vendors will be required – along with all Market visitors – to adhere to a number of safety precautions.

Many vendors will be in new locations in the park. A map should be available sometime after the Market opens.

Please leave your dogs at home. Families are encouraged to have just one person visit to shop.

If you attend, please consider wearing a mask.

Are you sick? Please stay home, perhaps have someone shop for you.

Special safety and health protocols for interacting with vendors will be in place.

No seating available for eating or socializing – all food must be consumed off-site.

The entertainment program is suspended indefinitely.

We are working to develop pre-ordering options with your favorite vendors for quick pickup.

We are partnering with the Bay View Community Center to offer FoodShare benefits (SNAP) for the first time.
.
The situation remains fluid. These protocols and procedures are being developed and may change. Please continue to stay informed here, on our website and through other local media. Although this may not be the Market experience we might wish it to be, we are excited to start our 22nd season in Bay View and look forward to seeing you at the Market – however briefly – each week through the end of October.

SSFM guideline updates will be ongoing as needed. Please check back regularly for any changes: COVID Guidelines Update
